Mentor:Mentee System
We're hyper-focused on modernizing medical education by incorporating the foundational principles of Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) and Adult Emotional Intelligence (EI). Our novel Social and Emotional Intelligence Learning (SEIL) framework builds upon established research methodologies from CASEL for SEL and incorporates design-thinking principles from IDEO and Stanford d.school.
Our White Paper provides a comprehensive analysis of our K-12 USA pilots, DistrictZero's learning-logic model, academic theory of change, and overall foundations of using mentor:mentee systems to improve societal social-emotional intelligence learning.
Benefits
Our SEIL framework is crafted to enhance the foundational aspects of emotional intelligence and personal growth, tailored specifically for medical education and beyond. Utilizing automated short-surveys, SEIL promotes significant self-awareness by minimizing disruption and focusing on individual expressions and responses to challenges and opportunities for growth.
For self-management, our framework includes shared action plans that help medical students and their faculty mentors track progress and uphold accountability towards academic and personal development goals.
Additionally, our spaced-mentorship program facilitates trusted conversations, enhancing well-being by allowing mentees to openly discuss challenges while enabling mentors to focus on empathy and support, optimizing both time and emotional resources.
Self-Awareness
Enhance understanding of personal emotions and growth areas through unobtrusive, automated short-surveys tailored to encourage reflective thinking and self-discovery.
Self-Management
Foster accountability and monitor progress with shared action plans that connect medical students and mentors in a structured, supportive partnership.
Well-being
Unlock meaningful dialogue and support through a spaced-mentorship program, creating a safe space for mentees to explore challenges and mentors to cultivate empathy and understanding.
Impact
Since its inception in 2020, DistrictZero has made significant strides across diverse educational environments, including K-12, bilingual settings, higher education, and medical sectors. Through our high-performant check-ins, we have processed over 1 million emotions expressed via text, audio, and video, demonstrating the extensive reach and impact of our SEIL framework. This capability not only captures a broad spectrum of human emotional responses but also emphasizes the depth and scalability of our technology.
In our commitment to fostering inclusivity and broadening access, our platform now supports over 16 languages, ensuring that learners from various linguistic backgrounds can fully engage and benefit from our tools. Moreover, our efforts have earned the trust and collaboration of prominent social impact organizations, including the American Heart Association Social Impact Fund and Intel Corporation's Pandemic Relief Technology Initiative.
These achievements are significant, yet they are just the beginning. We are on a mission to resolve burnout for 1-million humans by 2027, aiming to profoundly impact educational practices and emotional intelligence development on a global scale.
